ZUCCHINI

Purchase:

The ZUCCHINI or zucchini, is a fruit vegetable, similar to cucumber but a little smaller and thinner. It is used a lot in the Oriental kitchen.

Freshness:

It looks in its firm, non-tender texture. Its color, can be green, yellow or marbled green and white.

When you go to buy the product in the supermarket, we recommend:

  • Observe that the display site is clean and adequately refrigerated.
  • Choose the products, preferably in this order: vegetables, fruits, eggs, cheeses and dairy in general, after the products of pantry, but before the meats, poultry, fish and shellfish.
  • When you reach your destination refrigerate, so that the “cold chain” of the same is not interrupted.

Uses:

The Zucchini or zucchini, is a vegetable that can consume both crude (peeled by parts, because its crust is a little bitter) as cooked. If it is to be cooked, it is not necessary to peel it, as long as it is well washed. This way they take better advantage of all their nutrients. -It is used (low fat), Wok (deep skillet and wide), for Oriental type vegetables and other vegetables. -or stuffed with meats and au gratin. Also in salads (raw or cooked). -in stews, fried and countless preparations.

Storage:

The Zucchini is stored and canned refrigerated without a bag in the “vegetable drawer” of the refrigerator. -If it is portioning, keep it facedown (so that its juices do not damage it) in a container preferably of plastic (not disposable) without cover and with absorbent paper of kitchen (dry) in the bottom of this.

Cool.

8-10 days approximately.  

Tips:

If a piece remains unused, store facedown, preferably plastic container, with lid and absorbent paper (dry) in the bottom of this, so that their juices do not rot.
