Purchase:

The pawpaw (Carica). There are several kinds of papayas, of different sizes and intensity of color.

  • The common pawpaw or fruit pump, is the largest.

There are several kinds of pawpaws of different sizes and intensity of color. Its aroma is strong.

Freshness:

-If it is acquired whole, it is observed in its firm texture to the touch, smooth skin, without roughness or brown spots or soft parts, shiny and sometimes matte, depending on the class and maturation of this one. Color varies between green with yellow betas, orange with green betas and orange, depending on your class and the degree of maturation. Odour characteristic, aromatic, not strong, nor fermented. Taste is sweet, when it has reached its perfect ripening point. Otherwise it can be bitter and hard. -If you buy Porcionada, the sweetest are the intense carrot color. Pale or clear color are usually insipid.

  • The Hawaiian pawpaw, in size is smaller than the common. Its aroma is more pleasant (soft fragrant and delicious).

Freshness:

It is observed in the firmness to the touch, smooth and matte skin, without roughness or brown spots or soft parts. The color goes from green to orange, depending on the degree of maturation. Scented characteristic Aroma, fresh and delicious, not strong, nor fermented. Its taste is sweet, when it has reached its perfect ripening point. When you go to buy the product in the supermarket, we recommend:

  • Observe that the display site is clean and adequately refrigerated.
  • Choose the products, preferably in this order: vegetables, fruits, eggs, cheeses and dairy in general, after the products of pantry, but before the meats, poultry, fish and shellfish.
  • When you reach your destination refrigerate, so that the “cold chain” of the same is not interrupted.

Uses:

The pawpaw, it can be consumed alone like fruit, in juices, milkshakes, sorbets, ice creams, mousse (fluffy), salad (drink, with very small chopped fruit), fruit and/or vegetables, jellies, cakes, mousse, among others.

Storage:

Whole, it should be cleaned very well with damp cloth. Refrigerate after reaching the desired ripening point. -Always cut the desired portion with Shell, starting at one end, the most mature. -The remaining, place it in the refrigerator also with rind (shell) as it serves as protection against “cross contamination”, changing its texture, aroma, flavor and color. -Place Facedown (so that its own humidity does not damage it) and on a container. or cover it with film paper (Vinipel) and refrigerate facedown. Its duration depends also on the freshness at the time of its purchase.

Tips:

It is recommended not to peel or mince in whole to keep refrigerated in a container, because it loses texture, flavor and nutrients.

Pawpaw,-Contains vitamins A, B, C and D. Source of carotene. -minerals such as potassium, magnesium, iron, calcium and sodium. -It is antioxidant and prevents cancers of the breast, bladder, colon or cervix. -Fight constipation. -For digestion, it helps to treat gastritis and the formation of gases. -It is used for dermatological treatments and skin conditions, as it is considered softening, moisturizing, exfoliating and regenerative (sunburn). -Excellent for diets, low calorie content. -it contributes to the organism an enzyme (papain) that acts on the proteins helping to digest them. Note:

It is advisable to refrigerate after starting. -periodically check the condition of the product in order to be able to consume it in time.
