SQUASH

Purchase:

The SQUASH or GUATILA, is a vegetable of green color, medium size and hard to touch. It has on its skin (sometimes) a few small thorns and a transverse cleft at the top.

Freshness:

Firm texture with no stains or soft parts.

When you go to buy the product in the supermarket, we recommend:

  • Observe that the display site is clean and adequately refrigerated.
  • Choose the products, preferably in this order: vegetables, fruits, eggs, cheeses and dairy in general, after the products of pantry, but before the meats, poultry, fish and shellfish.
  • When you reach your destination refrigerate, so that the “cold chain” of the same is not interrupted.

Uses:

The Guatila always boils. It is prepared stew as garnish and is also used in soups and stews. It is of great food and of low price, for that reason it is also called contemptuously “Pope of poor”.

Storage:

The CHAYOTE, clean and dry, is kept in the refrigerator without a bag. If Porcionada, store in plastic container preferably with lid, placing facedown on absorbent paper (dry). Consume soon because it is easily oxidized (darkened). Refrigerated whole, 15 days or more. Departure, 5-8 days depending on your freshness at the time of purchase.

Tips:

His freshness is misleading. Check that it is fresh, palpándola. -in food preparations for infants and toddlers, frozen foods, except meats (raw), are not advisable to preserve them. -they should always be given freshly made foods, using very cool ingredients.
